kotka gudmon: the minimum of the routine

The Minimum of the Routine entitled site specific video installation was an immersive projection with a lecture performance. The audience experienced the video content as a parallel reality happening in the space, around them. The installation provoked the individual’s perception, the spectator’s illusion about reality and the routine of spectating, meanwhile proving that that space as a medium has a dramaturgic potential. Gnomes and the kitsch they represent have often been inspiration of arts, from the gnome portraits of Velazquez to works of Paul McCarthy American artist who doubled the seven dwarf characters of Walt Disney. In case of this art and design project 25 Hungarian reputed artists transformed mass produced, polyresin garden gnomes into art pieces for auction to be held on the day of the governmental elections, with the title 'Age of the gnomes'. couleur locale - the colours of europe in objects design exhibition

Does the design culture of different countries have unique characteristics? Can we define unequivocally typical national features in 2011, in an irretrievably globalising world? We have tried to answer these questions with the help of the design experts of some thirty countries by selecting objects manufactured during the previous three years. The exhibition presented 90 diverse products from 30 countries and was visited by more than 15 000 visitors. The “unorthodox” display of the items ensured that the exhibition is emblematic also in its appearance. READ MORE

The concept of the interactive Bauhaus photo and video installation is related to the thoughts and publications released in the 1920’s by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. Regarding to his theory, foils set behind each other overrun the boundaries of the two-dimensional photograph. This new arrangement can be understood as motion progress in the spectators’ mind.
